Job Description:

The Asphalt Supply & Trading Team is looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills and high initiative to join the team as a Sr. Asphalt Sales Rep in the Houston area. The Sr. Asphalt Sales Rep is responsible for developing and maintaining successful working relationships with new and existing customers and developing new sales markets generating additional revenue for Valero.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contact and communicates frequently with customers, industry counterparts, transportation agencies, industry associations and industry information sources to stay informed of marketing intelligence and industry trends.
  • Seek out and analyze new products and market expansion opportunities.
  • Develop market pricing strategies, inventory management procedures and techniques of value protection.
  • Establish new customer relationships.
  • Develop an understanding of the market factors affecting the profitability of rack marketing.
  • Communicate and work with government agencies.
  • Communicate and engage with asphalt terminals on a weekly basis.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with refinery operations, marketing petroleum terminology preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the following area(s): Refining and/or petroleum sales required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Driver’s License prior to start date required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within specified timeframe required.
  • The ability to travel up to 30% of the time required.
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred.
  • Experience with petroleum based products sales is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
