Job Description: The School of IT is an inter-faculty unit, currently including Computer Science and Information Systems, with a vision to provide a single coordinated hub for ICT-related academic activity at the university. Individually, both departments have a recognised track record of excellence in teaching and research, with strong elements of social responsiveness. [the_ad id="29344"] Job Responsibilities: Create and manage the School of IT Advisory Board Approval of staff/finances/student funding within ambit of the School of IT (e.g., HPI Research School) Organize fundraising initiatives and securing of funds for the School of IT Provide academic leadership to the School of IT with the aim of making it a sustainable entity Serve as the School of IT liaison with external and internal parties Conduct regular Management Committee as well as strategic planning and consultative meetings Represent the School of IT on faculty boards and university forums Manage cross-faculty initiatives, engagements, and communication Manage communication with students Manage staff who are not in one of the affiliated departments Manage temporary and contract staff (e.g., consultants, Web designers) Job Requirements: Leadership experience Proven experience in conceptualizing and implementing a strategic vision Understanding of the social, political, and economic environments in which South African universities operate and an active commitment to transformation and inclusiveness Experience in curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels At least 8 years of relevant academic experience Management experience in a university or equivalent environment, including financial management PhD in either Computer Science or Information Systems or a related discipline A track record of teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students A track record in research appropriate to the Associate Professor level Proven fundraising experience A track record in postgraduate supervision appropriate to the Associate Professor level Job Details: Company: University of Cape Town Vacancy Type: Full Time Job Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, SA Application Deadline: N/A [the_ad id='29345'] Apply Here Vacanciesspot.com
