Job Description:

The Division of Anatomical Pathology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town seeks to employ a Lecturer on a permanent part-time basis for 30 hrs/week. The successful candidate’s focus will be on teaching which will include supervising and encouraging undergraduate and postgraduate students to engage in research projects within the Division of Anatomical Pathology and managing the educational aspects of the Pathology Learning Centre in relation to research

Job Responsibilities:

  • Grade assessments.
  • Oversee assessments and moderation processes
  • Conduct lectures as required.
  • Manage all research projects and ethical requirements.
  • Design in-course & summative assessments
  • Manage the divisional Honours Programme.
  • Teach and Supervise PhD, MMed and MSc students.
  • Initiate and participate in Anatomical Pathology and curriculum related research related to the above degrees Participate in research that will produce publications
  • Apply for and manage divisional research grants

Job Requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in postdoctoral research
  • Computer skills (MS Office including Excel)
  • Leadership experience, program management and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and work in a team
  • Knowledge and experience of histology laboratory techniques
  • PhD qualification in Health Sciences or Pathology discipline.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in higher education curriculum design, implementation, assessment & evaluation.
