We invite applications for the above-mentioned position under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Wendy Burgers and Prof. Ntobeko Ntusi, based in the Division of Medical Virology, Department of Pathology; Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine; and Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences. T

- Participate in collaborative research projects with research institutes and/or universities external to UCT
- Supervise or co-supervise postgraduate students
- Lead research projects on immunology of various infectious diseases and medical conditions across disciplines under mentorship of two senior academics
- Conduct 1 conference presentation per year, with at least 1 international conference presentation during the tenure
- Participate in the publication of at least 6 papers in academic journals within the 36-month grant period
- Apply for independent research funding
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrable evidence of academic writing ability, including a track record of research publications in immunology or a related field
- Experience with aspects of supervision of postgraduate students
- Expertise in immunological techniques including multiparameter flow cytometry in a BSL2 laboratory
- 2 to 5 years postdoctoral experience working in a research laboratory
- A PhD in Immunology or a related field
