Job Description:
We are looking for an automation & controls engineer to help SpaceX develop and build launch systems for Starship. This role will be focused on electrical systems for the launch mount and integration tower, including control systems, VFD systems, and the associated power systems to support that equipment.

- Lay out industrial electrical control panels which are NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant
- Complete electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics
- Specify load centers & protective equipment
- Specify custom equipment: Design VFD systems, Motor Control Centers, I/O systems for instrumentation, for example
- Specify distribution: Cables, raceways, conduit schedules, splice points, etc.
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
- Set, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completion
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing
Job Requirements:
- Electrical schematic CAD experience using EPlan
- PLC programming experience, preferably Siemens TIA Portal
- Field bus networks, serial communication and Ethernet communication
- Knowledge of NEC, UL508A codes
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- HMI and SCADA programming experience
- C#, .NET, python and/or SQL experience
- 5+ years of experience in the design and commissioning of controls systems for industrial applications
- Experience in fast-paced iterative design and test environments
- Exposure to a wide variety of industrial machinery
- Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
- Electrical system analysis using SKM
- Hands-on experience building and commissioning high quality electrical control panels and electro-mechanical systems
- Process integration and electromechanical / mechatronic systems experience
