Job Description:

The Performance and Compliance Manager is responsible for leading the development of performance review, primary audit and operational initiatives. This includes managing a Team Leader and Internal Auditors deployed in the Standards Audit Unit. The postholder has an essential relationship with the on-site SPS Controllers Office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all activities conducted in the Performance and Compliance function meet all Health and Safety requirements and ensure that there is an awareness of environmental issues designed to reduce the carbon footprint through reduced waste and increase recycling.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of written submissions in response to Freedom of Information (FOISA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requests. Provide advice and guidance to management and staff on FOISA and Data Protection including managing the response to any Data Breach.
  • Lead the development of the Performance and Compliance function to ensure the provision of effective performance review and primary audit across all elements of the Contract.
  • Manage Risk Register reporting to the Senior Management Team and, in the case of specific risks, to the Security Committee.
  • Provide oversight for the disability schedule within HMP Kilmarnock in line with local operating procedure.
  • Support the SAU Auditor (Governance) to review relevant operating procedures in line with a review calendar ensuring that up to date standards and legislation are utilised.

  • Ability to implement, manage and monitor new and existing processes.
  • Good IT skills including existing or a willingness to develop knowledge and skills in PR2 and CMS.
  • Ability to delegate and motivate others to achieve.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior colleagues from other functions.
  • Ability to manage and develop staff appropriately utilising Personal Development Review and other people management procedures.
