Job Description:

Lead the day-to-day inbound cross-border operations and business activities, communications, and reporting associated with Customs Clearance & Brokerage. The role is responsible for the completion of customs documentation, processing of import documentation, primary contact for broker, vendors, and carriers as well as FSC partners for import/export projects, and strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to analyze large data sets and derive insights to drive a continuous improvement mindset to optimize processes
  • Responsible for producing and summarizing various daily, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Support and advise existing and new brands on all international import/export requirements
  • Evaluating opportunities to leverage trade agreements and other duty reduction programs
  • Engage with internal business partners to identify areas of potential non-compliance, and develop plans and processes to address and rectify problems effectively
  • Ownership and maintenance of HS Tariff classification determinations for full assortment
  • Partner with cross functional partners to execute all necessary duties related to month/quarter/year end closures and reporting
  • In collaboration with brokerage team, audit to identify drawback opportunities on imports, exports, DIF, valuation and HS classification
  • Ensure full customs compliance from entry to post audit for air, ground and ocean freight
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with Planning, Transportation, Merchandising, Finance, and DC Operations teams
  • Supporting day to day inbound and cross-border operations which includes working a nontraditional work schedule to support the business, and supporting peak volume periods; evening shifts and weekends
  • Responsible for customs compliance lines on the Logistics P&L as it pertains to duties paid/duties refunded, and driving cost saving initiatives through effective measurement and monitoring of results
  • Oversee overall cross-border operations of the customs compliance program, remaining current with customs related regulations, & industry changes to effectively lead the management, execution and oversight of an effective customs compliance program
  • Oversee the CUSMA/USMCA & CETA program to ensure company is maximizing duty avoidance for all qualifying goods, maintaining current vendor certificate databases annually and maintain up to date records throughout the year to reflect current assortments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Post-Secondary College or University
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • 3-5 years recent, applicable work experience.
  • Ability to recognize corporate compliance risks and address and/or mitigate as necessary
  • Strong customs experience & knowledge of the customs entry and drawback process
  • CCS Designation
  • HS classification expertise
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office, advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, often-changing environment, Flexible, team player
