Job Description:
We are looking for an Application Architect who loves technology and is excited by the opportunity to build an engineering culture. In this position you’ll have the opportunity to define and drive design standards and technical maturity for our Disability and Absence product platforms by working on complex multi-cloud solutions (AWS, Azure and on-prem) spanning multiple applications and integration technologies.

- Research and analyze business needs documented in various requirements documents, user stories, etc. to ensure completeness and accuracy. When necessary, elicit requirements from business stakeholders and assist teams in documenting requirements that match the acceptance criteria.
- Work with Solution Architects, Principle Engineers and development teams to ensure non-functional requirements are covered during the SDLC process
- Support creation of application technical roadmaps, and maintain technical backlogs
- Assist teams in documenting technical options that align to design principles and implement prototypes and POC’s to bootstrap teams during spike’s and development sprints.
- Own the technical governance process ensuring development alignment to design principles and furthering the maturity of apps in DevOps and SRE practices
- Define, educate and implement design practices ensuring security, scalability, maintainability across our development teams.
- Support teams during Capability sessions, PI Planning, User story breakdown and estimation as needed.
- Produce documentation and perform training of both junior staff as well as systems analyst teams to increase knowledge/education and promote reusable solutions.
Job Requirements:
- Experience with both waterfall, iterative and agile methodologies; Agile experience highly desirable
- 8+ years experience developing and leading development teams, defining and implementing design standards for distributed full stack applications.
- Full-stack experience using various JAVA technologies and Cloud based application development experience (AWS and/or Azure), Integration technologies (micro-services. batch ETL, messaging), Database and data technologies (Oracle, MongoDB, SOLR), User Interface design (React, Angular), CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins), Monitoring and ops (AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk).
- Experience with FINEOS or similar Vendor Claims processing system
- Experience writing, estimating and planning user story development across multiple teams
- Working knowledge or JIRA or similar tools and experience breaking down solutions to Epics and User Stories
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to details, demonstrated professionalism and time/task management skills; ability to establish strong relationships and mentor on/off-shore development teams
- Functional and technical knowledge of claims processing systems and integrations
- Experience in working with product owners and development leads to breakdown solutions into epics, user stories and spikes – driving best practices and ensuring inclusion of non-functional design requirements.
- Experience in Software architecture, design and development of financial or other systems of record in support of critical business processes
