Reporting to the Food & Beverage leadership, Westin Cape Town Hotel is recruiting for a Mixologist to join our team! Your creative flair and passion for beverage will lead your Bar team to superior beverage experiences for our guests.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drafts beer menu in coordination with Brewery staff
  • Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • Participation and acts as a mentor for all junior colleagues
  • All special occasions and events will be taken care by and creating innovative cocktail, specials and recipes
  • Prepare all needs for larger groups, events and welcome drinks.
  • Stock bar supplies to par levels
  • Part from bar operation, ensuring HACCP standards, SOP’s, cleaning and all bar related work will be taken care by Mixologist and supervise
  • Have great knowledge of alcohol and alcohol history
  • Use one’s expert knowledge to create innovative drinks and cocktails that explore the boundaries of flavours
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, costing and preparation methods
  • Create and push the limits of what mixed drinks can be
  • Keep bar records and files well updated
  • Tries new methods, equipment’s required, new products and generates ideas for creativity
  • Monitor temperature records, recipes and daily availabilities up to date
  • Ensure that appropriate stock/par level of all bar items is constantly maintained
  • Monitors and manages the ordering of all beer, wine, spirits, and bar tools and equipment

Job Requirements:

  • Eager to learn & progress, responsible with the willingness to take ownership
  • Problem solving, conflict resolutions skills
  • Ability to work without supervision and within a team
  • Ability to use Initiative and be proactive and self-driven
  • You must be proactive, adaptable team player who enjoys taking initiative to drive for results
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the same position from a reputable restaurant and or 4 or 5 star hotel property
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends in service, product and presentation
  • People centric disposition
  • Alcohol awareness and knowledge of responsible service
  • To ensure proper mixing, blending, of drinks
  • Desire and ability to train and develop staff
  • Ability to work within a pressurized environment
  • Diploma or certification in Hospitality management or its equivalent with formal bartending training
  • Knowledge of wines, spirits and all alcoholic beverages
