- Collaborate with scientists & engineers in a cross-functional team by documenting & communicating results across a broad array of disciplines, including program management
- Apply numerical modeling methods to generate first-principles models for a range of efforts, ranging from applied research & development up through prototype design & manufacturing
- Assess experimental uncertainties & risks, then recommend test plans in light of those risks
- Inform approaches for planning, executing, and validating models to enable design maturation
- Analyze experiment and prototype data to generate conclusions
Job Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields
- U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain government security clearance
- Model development
- Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or Mathematics
- Strong knowledge of numerical programming methods in software such as MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, or similar software packages
- Experience modeling a variety of thermal and/or mechanical processes, such as thermal transport, cryogenic material properties, fluid transport, vibrational behavior, and vacuum
- pumping
- Validation of models using experimental data
- Optimization methods & tools
- 5+ years’ experience in development of numerical models for physical systems, graduate work inclusive
