- 25% Core Engineering Documentation Development
- Lead Electrified Systems Engineering (ESE) Core Engineering process development with an emphasis on adherence to HV Battery system design process across multiple domains (Mechanical Crash Safety / NVH / Durability / Electrical Safety / Cell Vent Management and Thermal Propagation)
- Support HV Battery unit teams, safety and CAE teams with HV Battery System sign-off at Data Judgement (DJ) events and battery unit and program achievements in pre- and post-PS design phases
- Provide guidance to HV Battery Systems & component teams on HV Battery design execution and vehicle implementation with respect to overall vehicle safety across all global applications
- Provide mentorship to the Engineering Documentation Council for all HV Battery Systems engineering aspects
- 25% Global Core Engineering High-Voltage (HV) Battery Pack Design
- The position of the HV Battery Systems Technical leader will be roughly split as follows:
- Lead the development of HV Battery Functional Requirements for global FHEV, PHEV and EV battery unit and vehicle programs for current and future HV Battery Cell chemistries, Array to Pack and Cell to Structure designs
- 25% Battery System Technology Development
- Actively drive the design and implementation of advanced HV Battery Concepts with specific focus on improving the integration between battery and vehicle structure mechanical and thermal functions leading to cost, weight, quality and functional advantages
- Actively support and stimulate HV Battery Intellectual Property Development and value creation
- 25% HV Battery Pack System Sign-Off at engineering milestones
- Align technology development and migration with Research and Advanced Engineering teams; use resources with academia where appropriate
- Establish strong working relationship with relevant Product Development and Global Material Control benchmarking activities (NA, EU, China)
Job Requirements:
- Experience in the sign-off of HV battery designs for car and truck applications
- Two full new model program cycles in a PAT, PMT or D&R role
- Ability to lead a team in the delivery of program objectives
- An affinity with the generation and management of Intellectual Property related to HV Batteries (Patents, Invention Disclosures and / or Trade Secrets)
- Proven technical leadership in Systems Engineering, with emphasis on multi-domain integration aspects (mechanical, electrical, thermal, chemical)
- Experience in Design and Release of Mechanical Structures and HV Battery Systems Mechanical and Electrical Design
- Excellent communication, instructing, presentation and analytical skills
- Experience in Advanced HV Battery Concepts, in particular Li-ion and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack designs
- MS of Science degree or PhD in Engineering or related field
- Cell Vent Management and Thermal Propagation avoidance
- Confirmed leadership in the development of design processes for HV Battery mechanical and electric systems, including Failure Mode Avoidance, development of Core Foundation documentation, System Design Specification,
- Leadership in crash safety and cell abuse tolerance
