Job Description:

As a Data Privacy Advisor, you’ll be a subject matter expert with responsibility for providing advice on Data Protection, privacy and on associated legislation and how to apply this practically to ASOS.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with identification and remediation of data incidents involving personal data.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice on Data Protection and associated legislation and the application to ASOS.
  • Advise on ASOS marketing and third-party marketing initiatives involving PECR and e-privacy compliance and data sharing.
  • Advise the business in relation to PD handling, including data subject access requests and other requests for information or complaints involving personal data.
  • Provide input to contract negotiations with key customers and suppliers; including the ability to draft contract clauses on DPA matters.
  • Input to new projects by conducting privacy impact assessments, assisting on Data Protection Impact Assessments and providing initial advice with input from relevant project team members and the Data Protection and Privacy team.
  • Review and update fair processing information and privacy notices.
  • Assist with embedding policy and training in relation to Personal Data (PD) areas, including privacy rights, data retention and data sharing.

Job Requirements:

  • A Data Privacy qualification (IAPP/ Practitioner certificate) or Legal qualification (job title will reflect this as Legal Counsel) desirable but not required.
  • Experience in a financial or payment-related business would be beneficial but is not a requirement.
  • Ability to input and deliver a data protection/privacy compliance programme.
  • Good understanding of contract negotiations and document drafting ability.
  • Appreciation of retail business processes and risks.
  • Comfortable in a team with a very broad range of specialisms and responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to understand and provide incisive, reliable and commercially sound advice and solutions on complex business issues.
  • Experience undertaking risk-based privacy impact assessments, developing proportionate remediation plans and providing advice to the business.
  • Expertise in data protection laws and associated legislation, ideally in a B2C environment.
